Garden party

21 Jun

This photo-shoot playtime moment happened in the Community Garden right outside of my friend Shirley’s apartment in south Boston.  It is so pretty. And apparently, very exclusive.  It’s not like a community garden in Dallas where you can just have a plot because it’s Texas and there’s plenty of room here. In Boston, you have to have connections. We don’t, but luckily someone was gardening and they were kind enough to let me pose all over the place.

I bought the dress at a vintage store in LA and the necklace is from Forever 21. This is what I wear when I lean casually against gazebos, a favorite pastime.

That’s not just single-winged eyeliner. No. It’s double-winged. For extra awesomeness.

Dangly earrings and dramatically flared jeans

15 Jun

Are these the best jeans ever or are these the best jeans ever? I mean. Check out my butt. No seriously, do it.  It does not look like that when not in these magical, magical jeans. AND they were $12.50 at Old Navy. Really. And dig my catalogue-y pose.

I wore the magic jeans with these flatforms from the GAP. J’adore.

The ultra-dangly earrings are from H&M and the silk top is thrifted. I am completely unable to resist a shoulder-grazing earring. They blend with my hair if I wear it down and look super dramatic if I wear it up. They’re so versatile!

I’m obsessed with this picture because I think I look kind of tough. Please don’t shatter my illusions. Just let me have this one.

Photodiary of a Playday

My friends are very indulgent. They’ve really gotten on board with the whole personal-style-blogging thing. So when they suggested that I pose in front of this crane on our way to lunch, I obliged.

We ate lunch at the very tasty Trident Cafe on Newberry Street.

Fun fact: I didn’t actually drink this milkshake, as it was not vegan. It was ordered solely because it was photogenic.  (But worry not, it was consumed by my dairy-loving comrades.)

I have a weakness for all things sparkly, tacky, and impractical.  Hence this ring.

I just really feel like the vanity glasses make the outfit.

After lunch we went shopping (and I switched in to shoes that provided maximum comfort while I burned through my latest paycheck). Alex tricked me in to carrying everyone’s bags by encouraging me to spin with them in my hands. It totally worked. I’m a sucker for a photo-op.

Rhinestone reptiles

I did some serious colorblocking this past weekend. (I know, I’m late to the trend. Also that word might be used waaaaay too much.)

The silk top and pink shorts were thrifted and worn together at the suggestion of Elisa. She’s a genius. The earrings were purchased at Canton First Monday Trade Days and the shoes are DSW. The two-headed lizard bracelet is from ShoptheLook.net. How great is it?! I’m obsessed.

I visited friends in Boston and we went to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts. He’s the guy who makes glass stuff like this:

He wears an eyepatch. Also, I made this face:

Note: that sculpture is not a Chihuly.
