I want to ride my bicycle

13 Jul

Technically, it’s Shirley’s bike. But still.

I felt really silly when taking this picture because my friend Alex told me to stick my chest out, but it paid off. Arch your backs, everyone. It makes a world of difference.

I’m wearing a pair of vanity glasses from Urban Outfitters, a thrifted silk top,and polka dot shorts and a camera necklace from Forever 21. I think it’s the bike that makes the outfit, though. What is about bikes that makes them seem so youthful and carefree? Perhaps it’s my flagrant disregard for safety as I refuse to don a helmet lest it mess up my hair.

Lacy late nights

8 Jul

Sometimes (okay, a lot of times) I wear ridiculous things. The particular evening I wore this outfit was no exception. I wore two black lace dresses (you know, for modesty) over my underwear. And a mask I bought in Venice as a headband. Because I’m classy and well-traveled.

Shirley wore a denim jacket that may or may not be mine, amazeballs boots, and killer lipstick. She looks like a sexy Clarissa from Clarissa Explains It All. I dig it. She blogs about music at AD NAHSEAM. She has great taste (obvs, she’s friends with me). Check her out.

Garden party

21 Jun

This photo-shoot playtime moment happened in the Community Garden right outside of my friend Shirley’s apartment in south Boston.  It is so pretty. And apparently, very exclusive.  It’s not like a community garden in Dallas where you can just have a plot because it’s Texas and there’s plenty of room here. In Boston, you have to have connections. We don’t, but luckily someone was gardening and they were kind enough to let me pose all over the place.

I bought the dress at a vintage store in LA and the necklace is from Forever 21. This is what I wear when I lean casually against gazebos, a favorite pastime.

That’s not just single-winged eyeliner. No. It’s double-winged. For extra awesomeness.

Rhinestone reptiles

I did some serious colorblocking this past weekend. (I know, I’m late to the trend. Also that word might be used waaaaay too much.)

The silk top and pink shorts were thrifted and worn together at the suggestion of Elisa. She’s a genius. The earrings were purchased at Canton First Monday Trade Days and the shoes are DSW. The two-headed lizard bracelet is from ShoptheLook.net. How great is it?! I’m obsessed.

I visited friends in Boston and we went to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts. He’s the guy who makes glass stuff like this:

He wears an eyepatch. Also, I made this face:

Note: that sculpture is not a Chihuly.
