I love lipstick. A lot. It’s a really easy way to change the vibe of an entire outfit. I can swipe some on with jeans and a t-shirt* and suddenly, I’m dressed. (*and by jeans and a t-shirt, I mean a bathrobe. I’m classy.)
Also, buying lipstick is super fun. You get to try on a ton of different colors and make kissy faces at yourself in a mirror in public. And purchasing makeup is a great way to get complete strangers (who want to sell you something) to tell you you’re pretty.
Something about wearing lipstick is also very satisfying. It leaves pretty, feminine lip marks on your glasses, straws, and make out partners. You always have an excuse to pull out a compact and check it, so you can use your mirror to check out the people sitting at the table behind you while being discreet. And reapplying it is enjoyable. I love putting on makeup. I also love options. You can carry more than one lipstick and change them halfway though the night. That’s a lot more difficult to do with eyeshadow.
