This swimsuit makes me feel like an extra in Beach Blanket Bingo, which I love. It’s the one where the Beach Party gang goes sky diving! Buster Keaton is in it! (Don’t tell anyone, but I think his physical comedy is more masterful than Charlie Chaplin’s. Shocking, I know.) If this clip doesn’t entice you to check it out, you probably hate fun:
Vintage Vacation Wear
4 May
Because I am vain and afraid of wrinkles and The American Cancer Society’s informational campaign has been very effective in scaring me about skin cancer, I wear sunscreen and very wide-brimmed hats to avoid excess sun exposure. This one is from Banana Republic. It goes with everything. I highly recommend the purchase of one like it.
The dress and belt are both thrifted and the lace-up sand-colored gladiators are from DSW. I realize that they’re not the same color as the sand I’m standing on in this picture, but I think sand is the best color descriptor for them since we’re not supposed to use nude to describe colors because it’s racist.
I adore this dress. It has drawings of girls in really cute outfits and then advice about what to bring on vacation, like “Don’t forget your swimsuit!” It would be really helpful to refer to the dress while packing, and then remember to pack the dress. Which I did.
